Being fathers is getting our daughters up at 5:30 am making breakfast getting them dressed for school and putting them on the bus by 6:30 .This is a typical day in our household . #people#this dispels like fifty stereotypes and I love it

Okay I’m reblogging this again because I want to point out how beautiful this is and the sheer number of stereotypes it disproves. The stereotype that a gay couple cant be good parents. The stereotype that men know nothing about caring for girls’ hair. The stereotype that all gay men are feminine. The stereotype that black men abandon their children. The stereotype that people with a lot of tattoos aren’t caring. The stereotype that black people are too lazy to care about things like school- This picture is a beautiful thing and I love everything about it and it makes me regain confidence in the world we live in

I have this weird theory that some people are drawn to each other because their atoms were near each other when the universe was created and over time the same atoms keep coming back together

June 1987, Madonna was rushed to the Cedars Sinai hospital for an X-ray after her then-husband—Sean Penn hit her across the head with a baseball bat. At the time, they had been having a heart-to-heart talk about reconciling.

Madonna did not make an official complaint because Penn was about to serve a short jail term for attacking a film extra and violating the probation he’d been given for punching a fan. It was a decision she would come to regret. In the late afternoon of December 28, 1988, Penn scaled the wall surrounding the Malibu house and found Madonna alone in the master bedroom.

According to a report filed by Madonna with the Malibu sheriff’s office, the two began to quarrel. Penn told her he owned her “lock, stock and barrel”. When she told him she was leaving the house, he tried to bind her hands with an electric cord. Screaming and afraid, Madonna fled from the bedroom. Penn chased her into the living room, caught her and bound her to a chair with heavy twine. Then he threatened to shave her hair. Penn was “drinking liquor straight from the bottle” and the abuse went on for nine hours, during which he smacked and forced Madonna to perform a “degrading sex act” on him.

He went out to buy more alcohol, leaving Madonna bound and gagged. Some hours later, he returned and continued his attacks, then finally untied her. Madonna then fled the house and ran to her car. Penn ran after her and was banging on the windows of her Thunderbird while she spoke to police on her mobile phone. Fifteen minutes later, she staggered into the sheriff’s office.

Wow. I had no idea this had ever happened. Makes me look at Sean Penn a lot differently, even if he’s a more stable less ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING person now…

Friendly reminder that Sean Penn and other abusive white celebrities are not demonized the way that Chris Brown is and when Rihanna said she still loved Chris Brown people were ready to hang her. But Madonna gets all the sympathy in the world.
#double standard

The bold.

For the bold. Madonna was bound and tortured for nine hours by Sean Penn. Not a peep to the media.

I think it’s overstating it to say Madonna gets all the sympathy in the world. She absolutely does not. Mostly because public consciousness has completely swept Sean Penn’s abuse under the rug.

No one remembers that Sean Penn tortured and raped Madonna. No one remembers that long before that he was physically abusing her (for YEARS). That’s something that people have to keep reminding us of every few years because we keep saying stuff like, “but Sean Penn’s changed now!”

With Chris Brown and Rihanna, Rihanna is held to the higher standard of Abuse Survivor because now no one can see her as anything else. She’s not a person dealing with a trauma and moving on with her life, she’s the Example - when Rihanna dresses sexily she’s asking for more abuse, when Rihanna says she still loves Chris Brown she’s an idiot who’s asking for more abuse, when Rihanna gets a tattoo she’s i don’t even know what the critics were saying about that one but it was something about not coping and needing to serious help idk tmz is awful - Madonna can do the same things over and over again and to the media it’s just another artistic choice. Because there’s no context to spin her choices as anything other than for herself.

Is that better? I don’t know, I mean lord knows the way Rihanna’s been treated is fucking disgusting and no one should be treated like that, but having it come at the cost of anyone acknowledging your experience sounds awful as well.

Hell the reaction to the above confession was more like, “oooo that’s so sweet, theirs is such a tragic love” as if Sean Penn being the literal scum of the earth is an uncontrollable fate. No one’s criticizing Madonna because no one actually thinks she was wronged. We treat Madonna and Sean Penn like Romeo and Juliet - two over passionate people with a tragic love.

What it actually is is we romanticize abuse in white couples, while using abuse in black couples as further “proof” that black people are violent. White people get Greek tragedies black people get “well you should have known better.” Both are methods of victim blaming that stops victims from getting help and just allows more men to abuse women, but one of them also feeds into systematic racism.

The bolded is the issue. People romanticize abusive relationships with white couples so much.

"Oh their love was so torrid and tragic!"

Like shut up. Sean Penn is trash and will always be trash. I didn’t cry during “I Am Sam”, that’s how trash he is.

And This Is Why You Shouldn’t Get Sick In America

Many believe that the US healthcare system is the best in the world. Not so according to the World Health Organization’s ranking of the world’s health systems. The US doesn’t even rank in the top 25. It ranks 37th and is the most expensive in the world. I would argue that even if we had the best healthcare system in the world, what good is it, if no one can afford to access it.

Most companies are buying 60/40-policys for their employees these days, but even if you are lucky enough to have good insurance with 80/20-policy coverage, that 20 percent your responsible for can drive you right into bankruptcy as easily as the 60-40 policy given the cost of healthcare.

Insurance cost have been going up dramatically in the last two decades, long before the new Affordable Healthcare Act has taken affect, in some cases as much as 35% per year.

But have you noticed the latest trick the insurance companies have roll out?

Yes, Higher Deductible… most averaging $5,000 per year, per person, but I have seen some as high as $10,000 per year. For those of you that are wondering, this tactic is specifically designed too stop you from using your insurance. It reduces the insurance companies out of pocket liability by shift costs onto consumers, especially those dealing with chronic illness such as diabetes and arthritis. Consequently, because consumers can’t afford the deductible they will avoid necessary care to save money.

Although insurance companies are a problem, the real crocks is the healthcare system it self. A corrupt and bloated system desperately in need of reform!

This is absolutely ridiculous.

I live in New Zealand. My mum had a heart attack when I was 13, she was in hospital for at least 3 months and our government pays for most of our bills so I think my parents only had to pay around about $500 - 1k. With the option to pay it over a period of time.

Like????? Does the America government even give the slightest fuck about the people that live in their country???? Honestly.

No. They don’t.

Fuck yeah, ‘merica!

but seriously don’t injure yourself here.
